The red entry-level 2017 Cortezada comes from a year that is the opposite of the previous one, as 2017 was early, warm and dry. The fermentation was the same, but they changed the élevage, as they saw that the wine in barrique was getting a little too wide. So they aged one-third of the volume in concrete, which helped keep more tension in the wine. Furthermore, they also used one 1,200-liter oak vat for the aging, and the wine shows the difference. Just bottled, this is still extremely young. From a very healthy vintage, the wine is clean and expressive, a little riper, mixing floral aromas with wild berries and herbs, with a flinty sensation. It's round and juicy, very tasty, with very fine tannins and a lifted finish, incredibly fresh for the conditions of the year, ending with a mineral/tasty note. Delicious. Right now the palate is more expressive than the nose, which should develop with a little more time in bottle. 8,000 bottles were filled in December 2018.
