Diferente e imprescindible vino de Verónica Ortega
Cal 2020 es un vino blanco del Bierzo elaborado por Verónica Ortega con uva Godello de grano menudo, procedente de una parcela situada sobre una antigua mina de cal, de ahí su nombre. La viña tiene una antigüedad de 30 años y es especial porque el suelo calcáreo es inusual en la zona del Bierzo.
La fermentación y la crianza la realiza en barrica de roble francés y en ánfora de barro de 800 litros, donde permanece el vino por un periodo de 11 meses. Estamos ante la segunda añada de este vino mineral, serio y afilado. Se han elaborado 4.200 botellas.
Cal 2019 obtuvo 95 Parker.

The élevage was slightly longer—14 months in a combination of different sizes of barrels and 800-liter tinaja. This vineyard is always harvested quite early, and that was the case this year; but the style of the vintage is for moderate alcohol and higher acidity. Yields were also a little higher, and the wine is superb, austere and vibrant, quite harmonious, with a piquant palate with a sparkling texture and a long and salty finish. It has to be the finest Cal. Unfortunately, this will be the last vintage of Cal, as the vineyard was sold. This should be quite long lived. 4,300 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2021.
