2023 / 94 puntos The village red 2023 Matas Altas comes from different old vineyards, the youngest from 1967, all ungrafted and dry farmed, in their village Fuente-Álamo, planted with field blends, mostly Monastrell but with other varieties on limestone soils with different textured, marl, sand and gravel. It fermented with some 15% to 20% full clusters and indigenous yeasts It has a perfumed nose, floral and elegant, juicy and with a very elegant mouthfeel and very fine tannins, clean and precise, with chalky sensations and the red berries, Mediterranean herbs and orange peel freshness. It has contained ripeness and 14% alcohol, but they harvest with ripeness, quite late. The wine has great balance, and the alcohol goes unnoticed. It matured for 12 months in two 5,000-liter oak foudres and some 500-liter barrels. They produced 16,000 bottles. It was bottled in September 2024, and it's approachable and expressive.Robert Parker The Wine Advocate / Luis Gutiérrez
