2023 / 94 puntos The village white 2023 Matas Altas Blanco is the result of many years of working, taking over some old vineyards, working them in biodynamics and trying to improve the yields and balance the plants. It's mostly Airén and Macabeo from three vineyards in the zone of Fortaleza in a shady place in their village, at 840 to 900 meters above sea level on marl soils (green, red, white and blue) with some soil and gravel on top. In 2023, they discarded some grapes like Tortosí and Malvasía that marked the wines from previous years. It has a serious nose, with some flinty notes, hints of citrus, flowers and a salty, brothy twist. It's tasty, pungent and fresh, with a serious palate. It has contained ripeness, 12% alcohol and nothing green about it, with a salty twist in the finish with tension and freshness. The juice from the direct pressing fermented with full lees in foudre and barrels and matured for 12 months in a 5,000-liter foudre. They have 6.7 hectares of vines here (in the process of being certified, possibly in 2025) and produced 6,000 bottles. It was bottled in November 2024.Robert Parker The Wine Advocate / Luis Gutiérrez
