The single-vineyard 2019 Finca Pombeiras comes from a Mencía-based field blend that is always fermented with 100% full clusters and indigenous yeasts in 1,500-liter oak vats and matured in well-seasoned 500-liter French oak barrels for one year. This is one of the most elegant wines in the Guímaro portfolio, but it's also powerful, has abundant, fine-grained tannins and is very long. It's a very serious red for the long run. 2019 was a very complete year with a long cycle and perfect ripeness of the grapes. They kept this at 13.5% alcohol. Only 800 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2021. - Issue 259 End of February 2022, The Wine Advocate -

I was completely blown away by the 2018 Finca Pombeiras, the most elegant and ethereal vintage for this wine, which always has a lighter color and a more floral and perfumed personality. In 2018, it's really open and expressive, but at the same time, it has a wild side that's exuberant, primal and a little raw, with a sensation of authenticity that is hard to describe. This Mencía-based field blend is always fermented with 100% full clusters and indigenous yeasts in 1,500-liter oak vats and matured in well-seasoned 500-liter French oak barrels for one year. The wine opens up spectacularly in the glass, unfurling layers and layers of aromas and textures, a wine in motion, with lots of energy and light. This has to be the finest Pombeiras to date. And not only that, I think this is the finest wine ever produced at Guímaro. Bravo! This is more Burgundy, and Capeliños is more Rhône. Some 800 bottles were filled in April 2020. They have bought a new small plot in Pombeiras, a parcel that's higher up and contributed one 225-liter barrel to the blend in 2018. - May 2020 Week 2, The Wine Advocate -
