Capa alta, cereza oscuro.
Frutos negros maduros, regaliz. Toques de maderas nobles.
Amplio, sabroso, largo. Final goloso.
The 2016 El Sequé Dulce is a sweet fortified Monastrell produced in a similar style of a Vintage Port. It was fortified to only 16.5% alcohol (they started in 2010 at around 18%, and the alcohol level has been gradually lowered) and retained some 85 grams of sugar, as they don't want to have a very heavy wine. In fact, it's very aromatic and floral, with very good freshness. The grapes were picked very ripe (but without being overripe). It's tannic—but not too tannic—and sweet—but not too sweet, coming through as quite gentle for this style. I am curious to see how this wine will age in bottle, as their oldest vintages are still too young. This is probably the freshest vintage for this wine. 2,500 bottles were filled in December 2018.
