The young fortified sweet red 2018 Recóndita Armonía was produced with Monastrell grapes that want to replicate the Alicante wines from yesteryear, fresher, easier to drink and with a shorter élevage. It's purple, dense and juicy with 15% alcohol and 150 grams of residual sugar after maturing in barrel for one year. It felt strongly varietal, fresh and a little lighter, with classical notes of tree bark and carob beans, a touch of bay leaf that makes it faintly balsamic and less sweet in the palate, with a little less sugar, but I think the sensation is even less because of the higher freshness. 3,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2019.
