2020 / 94+ puntos
The softer and approachable 2020 Alma de Mar was put through malolactic, which makes it softer and mellower. It has moderate alcohol at 13%, less than the 2019 I tasted next to it, and very good freshness and acidity. It's like a 2015 with more freshness and precision. It's more vibrant than the 2019, and there is purity and transparency. 2,000 bottles were filled in August 2021. - Issue 259 End of February 2022, The Wine Advocate -
2017 / 94 puntos > I tasted again the 2017 Alma de Mar, as the wine was not produced in 2018 and it's still too early for the 2019, which had not yet been bottled. This is from a vineyard they own, produced exclusively in stainless steel. The wine is very pale and bright, and it's evolving very slowly, despite the fact that in 2017 it underwent full malolactic. This is an older vineyard next to the O Pereiro vineyard, and here they work with lees, but it has no volume or leesy character; it's powerful, yet fresh. I see some similarities with the 2015. It's mellower, it's not as crunchy as other wines, but it's subtle, elegant and harmonious, with the combination of sand and clay soils. It has good complexity. It was bottled before the 2018 harvest. There are 2,000 numbered bottles. - June 2020 Week 2, The Wine Advocate -
