2021 / 93 puntos I love the different nose of the 2021 Mi Verdadejo white, completely different from any other Verdejo I know. It was sourced from ungrafted old vines on deep sandy spoils and fermented and matured in the best barrels he can get his hands on for eight months. As he explains it, the priority is to express the soil and not the variety. He does manage that goal: the wine is earthy, nuanced and spicy, with notes of pollen and flowers, and it's tasty, and full-bodied, with fine chalkiness and a powerful palate with 14.5% alcohol but with great freshness and balance. It comes closed with a glass stopper, and I don't know if it's going to hold for many years; but the wine would, as it's still young and lively. 1,693 bottles produced.Robert Parker The Wine Advocate / Luis Gutiérrez
