El Castro de Valtuille Godello 2020 es un vino blanco con barrica elaborado por Bodegas Castro Ventosa y acogido a la Denominación de Origen Bierzo.
Vino monovarietal de la variedad Godello, procedente de una única parcela en Villafranca del Bierzo, cepas de 35 años de edad plantadas sobre suelos arenosos. Vendimia manual, selección en bodega, despalillado y maceración en frío. Fermentación en barrica y posterior crianza durante 12 meses.

El Castro de Valtuille Godello 2020 es un vino blanco con barrica elaborado por Bodegas Castro Ventosa y acogido a la Denominación de Origen Bierzo.

2020 is a very good vintage for whites too, even if the 2020 El Castro de Valtuille Godello has 1% more alcohol than the 2019 and is a little rounder. In 2020 they stopped doing any maceration and did a direct pressing of the destemmed grapes, so the wines are going to be a bit lighter than in the past. They don't do rackings or stir the lees, and they don't use any yeasts or oenological products. It's more Burgundian and more textured, with depth and complexity. 6,300 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2021, three weeks before I tasted it, and the wine felt a bit tight but quite sound and serious. - End of January 2022, The Wine Advocate -

The white 2019 El Castro de Valtuille Godello comes from three plots in some of the cooler vineyards in the village of Valtuille and Villafranca del Bierzo. It had a 24-hour maceration and then fermented in 225-, 500- and 700-liter oak barrels, where it matured with indigenous yeasts (like all whites here) for one year with the lees, topping the barrels up and without any bâtonnage. It was taken away from the barrels just before the following harvest. It's balanced and fresh, with 12.5% alcohol and a velvety sensation on the palate. 5,000 bottles produced. There will be more in 2021 because they bought a large 1.2-hectare plot of Godello in the village. It was bottled in October/November. - End of January 2022, The Wine Advocate -
