2018 / 92 puntos
The 2018 El Jorco feels closer to a wine from slate, but it's a wine with lower alcohol from a very perfect vineyard, very old, that absorbs the water perfectly. Here, they do a longer maceration, almost 60 days, and the wine has a deeper color (there's no temperature control); and this 2018 feels darker and earthier, more a root than a fruit or flower wine. There's a lot of stuffing here, abundant tannins. It's a wine for the long haul that was designed for that from the beginning when the wine was called Le Bâtard (and released under the Raúl Pérez name, who's the winemaker here). 1,600 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2020.
