Caoba oscuro.
Muy expresivo, complejo y especiado, donde se aprecian toques de fruta pasa y tostado de madera.
Persistente y potente con toques de madera de roble y frutas pasificadas.
Temperatura de Servicio 10-12ºC
The 2000 Alvear Dulce Viejo PX Reserva is produced, like all their sweet PX wines, from 7 to 10-day sun-dried Pedro Ximenez grapes, during which time their weight is reduced by half. In this case the wine ages in smaller barrels (250-300 liter, rather than the usual 500-600 liter used in the region), unblended, in a static (single vintage), oxidative aging for six years. This is a new wine, as they had been releasing single-vintage young PXs, 2007, 2006, 2005, etc. since 1998, but now they are releasing this new Dulce Viejo (old sweet) line combining the luscious fruit of the youth with the complexity of the old. The aging in smaller volumes result is a much darker, more concentrated, intense and polished wine that feels older than it really is. Black with a bright green-amber rim, the nose is dominated by notes of dates, cigar box, coffee and noble woods. The palate is surprisingly sweet and savory, incredibly dense, with a black pepper note that would do well with dark chocolate desserts or a vanilla or yogurt ice cream. A power-PX with 16% alcohol. 6,500 bottles produced. Drink 2013-2019.
